Abbot Richard has the sad duty to announce that our confrere Br. Jonathan has died. Those who remember Br. Jonathan teaching in the school, and more recently, might recall his health had grown frail. Br. Jonathan missed the classroom, but remained interested in the school's progress, and especially in the achievement of our students.
Due to the public health restrictions, Br. Jonathan's obsequies will be private. The monks will receive his body Monday afternoon, May 4th at 4 p.m. We will sing the Office of the Dead Monday evening at 6:45 p.m. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, May 5th at 4:30. This liturgy will be streamed on the abbey's new YouTube account, which you can access by clicking here. Interment in the abbey cemetery will follow the Funeral Mass.
Br. Jonathan was born in Elizabeth, July 17, 1943. He professed vows July 11, 1964, and was ordained deacon May 24, 1979. Please look for a formal obituary in the near future. In the meantime, please pray for the happy repose of Br. Jonathan's soul.
Know that we remember all of you in our prayers, and look forward to the day (soon, please God!) when we can gather together at the altar!
