Abbot-President Elias Lorenzo, OSB, along with Four Delbarton School teachers—Philip Bauchan, Rick Cimino, Tim McEvoy, and Matt White—participated in the Br. Edward Englund Benedictine Leadership Institute for lay administrators and teachers in Benedictine secondary schools from June 24-28.
St. John's Prep, St. John's University, and the College of St. Benedict in Minnesota jointly hosted the event. Thirty-three educators from various schools sponsored by the monasteries of the American-Cassinese Congregation attended.
The Benedictine Leadership Institute provides an opportunity for current lay educators, staff, and administrators to build community and discover best practices in Benedictine education. This year, the Institute emphasized spiritual leadership and vocation in Benedictine education: to address personal vocational commitment to Benedictine education, to articulate the richness of formation within Benedictine Spirituality and charism, to highlight ways to interweave faith into daily practice and work, and to experience a daily monastic horarium (Latin for "daily schedule").
