Dear Family & Friends,
I hope that 2020 has been off to a good start for you and that it continues to be a happy and healthy year. I am writing to share with you some exciting news. As you may already know, I have been chosen by Assumption College for Sisters to be honored for my work in education at their annual Caring Basket Gala in March. I was deeply touched to be honored by this special group of religious women.
Assumption College for Sisters is run by the Sisters of Christian Charity of Mallinckrodt Convent in Mendham. The mission of the college is to further the educational aims of religious sisters from developing countries. Specifically, the college seeks to provide the sisters with the linguistic, educational and intellectual skills, which will enable them to succeed in obtaining a degree at a four-year college or university here in the United States. Once equipped with the professional skills necessary for their ministry, the sisters return to their home communities to serve in the fields of education, health care, pastoral ministry and care for orphans and children.
Currently there are 24 sisters from over a dozen different countries living and studying at the college in Denville. Over the past few years, I have "guest lectured" several times to the sisters on Benedictine spirituality. It has always been a humbling and rewarding experience to work with the sisters. As someone who has lived and studied abroad, I have a deep appreciation of the challenges that these sisters face. I also have the utmost respect for the Sisters of Christian Charity who conduct the college. For so many reasons, these sisters deserve our support, which is why I am writing to you today.
The gala, at which I will be honored, raises scholarship dollars to support the education of these sisters. I hope that you will be able to join me at the gala; but if not, perhaps you will consider one of the other ways to support the Caring Basket Gala and the work of Assumption College for Sisters.

I am grateful for any support which you may be able to give. Thank you for your consideration!
With best wishes,
Br. Paul Diveny, OSB
